The most important stories
inside a company happen before
anyone thinks to call a filmmaker.
A breakthrough. A difficult decision. A mission becoming real. A group of people trying to change something that most of the world has not noticed yet.
Impact Docs helps purpose-driven organisations recognise, capture and share those moments through documentary storytelling.
Because the interesting part is usually happening now.
You know the work. We help you see the story.
When you are inside an organisation, everything has context. You know why the work matters, which decisions were difficult and how far you have come.
The audience does not.
An outside documentary perspective helps uncover the people, tension and moments that make your work meaningful to someone encountering it for the first time.

Three ways we can work together.
There may be a story like this inside your organisation.
DOCUMENTARY PARTNERSHIPS
For organisations with a real story unfolding inside or around their work. We find the strongest human perspective and shape it into a documentary people choose to watch.
STORY DISCOVERY
For organisations doing meaningful work but looking for the strongest story within it. We uncover the characters, tension and moments worth documenting.
WIYD EDITORIAL PARTNERSHIPS
For organisations that want to help make an independent What If You Didn’t? documentary possible when the subject naturally aligns with their work and values.
Let’s work out which kind of collaboration it needs.
We do not begin with the film length
A defining moment may need a focused short documentary.
A complex transformation may need to be followed over time.
An independent story may work best through WIYD.
We begin by understanding what is happening, who the story belongs to and what is genuinely at stake.
The format follows from that.
What it is like to work together.
FAQs
-
It depends on the story.
A focused documentary may be completed within a few weeks. Other stories need to follow a season, a transformation or a project over several months.
We define the likely production period once we understand what is happening, what access is possible and which moments the story depends on.
-
Every story requires a different level of research, access, travel, production and post-production.
After an initial conversation, we propose a scope and budget based on what the story genuinely needs.
-
Usage rights depend on the type of collaboration. For commissioned documentaries, the agreed usage rights are clearly defined before production begins. Raw footage is not normally included unless specifically agreed.
WIYD editorial partnerships follow a different model because the film remains part of Robin’s independent editorial platform.
-
Most people feel self-conscious around a camera at first. Our process is designed to create trust and make filming feel more like a conversation than a performance.
And the company team does not always need to be the centre of the story. The strongest character may be a customer, partner, researcher, farmer, community member or someone affected by the work.
-
Absolutely. We regularly work internationally and have filmed everywhere from the mountains of Uganda and Arctic glaciers to New York City and rural Finland.
-
Most commissioned projects are invoiced in stages, typically with a deposit before production and further payments tied to agreed milestones. The exact structure depends on the scope and duration of the project.
-
A commissioned documentary begins with your organisation.
We work together to identify the strongest story connected to your work, then produce a film designed around your goals, audience and agreed use. You fund the production and receive the usage rights defined in the project agreement.
A WIYD editorial partnership begins with an independent story already being developed for What If You Didn’t?
Your organisation may support the film when the subject naturally overlaps with your work, values or audience. The partnership can include visibility, participation and additional content, but the documentary remains editorially independent and is published through the WIYD platform.
In simple terms:
A commissioned documentary is a film we create with you.
A WIYD editorial partnership is an independent film you help make possible.
What is happening now that you could never recreate later?
Tell us what is changing, what is at stake and why this moment matters. We will help you work out whether there is a documentary in it.
