Do life your own way like building a resort outside Bali

“I spent 15 years building this all on my own, without telling anyone. Not even my mom.” When I hear a story like that — I know that this is something I need to explore more.

When I first met Martin, it was in a loud club in Canggu, Bali. We had been connected by common friends who said we’d probably like each other.

I remember listening to his story about this resort he spent all of his adult life building on Gili Trawangan — a tiny coral island a couple of hours boatride away from Bali. Since the music was so loud I only heard about 50% of what he told me, but it was enough.

A week later we were on our way and this story about his adventure turned out to be super emotional and powerful.
